Federal Hall National Memorial

An official Path Through History Site! Not only was Federal Hall in Manhattan's Financial District the site where George Washington took the oath of office as first President of the United States, it also served as the home to the first Congress, Supreme Court, and Executive branch offices. Today, it is a museum and memorial to the first president and to the birthplace of American government.
