Norwich, N.Y. – The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) is excited to partner with C.S. Miller Books and the Otselic Valley Fishing and Heritage Association to offer an engaging community program: “Journey Through Chenango: Land of the Oneidas.” This two-part book and discussion series, with interactive elements, offers interested community members the opportunity to receive free copies of two titles related to Oneida culture.
On July 31, the first of two sessions will be held 4-8 p.m. on the CCHS campus, located at 45 Rexford St. The highlight of the evening will be a book talk beginning at 6 p.m. with Daniel Koch, author of “Land of the Oneidas: Central New York State and the Creation of America, from Prehistory to the Present.” During this lecture, Koch will discuss themes of his work and be available for autographs. Up to 40 members of the community can register to receive a free copy of Koch’s book, along with “Drums Along the Mohawk” by Walter D. Edmonds, the second book in the discussion series.
Ahead of the author talk, museum guests will have the opportunity to experience programming by the Oneida Nation’s Shako:wi Cultural Center, participate in guided tours of the museum’s “Native America” exhibit, purchase dinner from food truck Kandi’s Kitchen, and view indigenous artifacts from local amateur collectors.
The second part of this collaborative community program will be held during “Museums and More!” Day, part of the Path Through History celebration on Oct. 12, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the CCHS campus. Discussion of both books and another guest speaker will be featured; details will be announced as the day approaches.

C.S. Miller Antiquarian Books aspires to bring the wonders of words to voracious readers from all corners of the globe. CCHS is the primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County.
