Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a slate of events to countdown to the upcoming centennial of the Bear Mountain Bridge, the Hudson River’s first vehicular crossing south of Albany. Activities between now and November include an online pop-up shop, guided hiking tours, an art workshop, an international engineering conference, and a dedication ceremony.

The weekend also marks the 20th anniversary of the Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach State Park.

Approximately 800 years ago, during a total solar eclipse, the Great Law of Peace was formed, creating the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Ticket holders at the EAclipse event will be able to enjoy a unique blend of live performances, teachings, and powerful Indigenous-produced sound scores centered around the theme of connectivity to the natural world and the creation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

ROOST - Adirondacks USALake Placid, NY (March 14, 2024) – The Northville-Placid Trail (NPT) is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024 with a newly-developed website and a series of events throughout the summer and fall. The Northville-Placid Trail was formed in 1922 as one of the Adirondack Mountain Club’s first projects. Completed in 1924, this 138-mile route transverses the Adirondack Park, from the town of Northville to Lake Placid. 

To celebrate the 100-year anniversary, organizers are planning community events throughout the year along the trail route.
