Astoria, New York (July 1, 2024) —  This summer, Museum of the Moving Image presents a centenary celebration of Soviet Armenian master filmmaker Sergei Parajanov; a screening series exploring the trans image in cinema co-programmed by Caden Mark Gardner and Willow Catelyn Maclay, authors of the new book Corpses, Fools, and Monsters: The History and Future of Transness in Cinema; the ninth edition of See It Big: 70mm, New York City’s only annual 70mm film festival; the continuation of See It Big at the ’90s Multiplex; special appearances by filmmakers; and more.

Screening features Q&A with John Cameron Mitchell, producer Howard Gertler, and cast member Adrienne Trustcott

Hudson, NY (July 1, 2024) -- Hudson Hall at the historic Hudson Opera House, Kasuri/Queer Ass Film Club present a special screening of the outrageously explicit cult classic Shortbus (2006) on Wednesday, July 10 at 8pm. The screening features a Q&A with writer/director John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig & The Angry Inch), producer Howard Gertler (How to Survive a Plague), and cast member and performance artist Adrienne Truscott (The Wau Wau Sisters), who will discuss the making of the film and the New York City queer/downtown performance scene that inspired it. Polaroid photographs that were used in the film - taken by Hudson-based artist Wolfy Part II - will be on display in the theater the night of the screening.

July 15 – 21, with Programming Celebrating LGBTQ+ History

Free, all-ages dance party at Pier 3 at Brooklyn Bridge Park

May 22, 2024 (Brooklyn, NY) — Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy will present the Big Summer Pride Twirl on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, part of the Conservancy’s Big Summer Get Down series. This free, all-ages dance party celebrates Brooklyn Pride, and is held at Pier 3 Plaza at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

An Annual Celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride

The free event will include a screening of their film essay, Notes on a Siren, which intertwines black and African spirituality and offers a thought-provoking narrative on transformation. Jones will introduce the film and La Sirène, a mermaid from Haitian Vodou.
