Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that June 29-30 is a free fishing weekend in New York State. During free fishing days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York’s waters.

“There’s no better time for aspiring anglers to try freshwater fishing than a free fishing weekend,” Governor Hochul said. “New York is home to numerous freshwater lakes, ponds, streams and rivers, allowing for memorable fishing experiences for anglers new and novice, as well as friends and family.”…

(June 17, 2024) – Bristol Mountain is thrilled to announce the arrival of athletes from the Killington Mountain School (KMS) of Killington, Vermont, to train at its state-of-the-art water ramp facility this past week with a multi-day training camp. Athletes stayed at local hotels and spent time as tourists experiencing Canandaigua and the surrounding area during their down time. Completed in 2022 with support from Bristol Mountain Freestyle and the Greater Rochester Amateur Athletic Foundation, this facility is dedicated to advancing the skills of local and visiting freestyle skiers during the off-season.

ROOST - Adirondacks USATupper Lake, NY (May 30, 2024) – The Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 8 a.m. Established in 1983, the race welcomes approximately 700 participants each year and features 5 different races: tinman (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile run); aquabike (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike); team relay (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile run); Olympic (0.94-mile swim, 24-mile bike, 6.2-mile run); and a sprint (0.6-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike, 3.1 -mile run).

ROOST - Adirondacks USASaranac Lake, NY (May 21, 2024) - Celebrate Paddling ADK, an annual month-long festival celebrating the paddling culture of the Adirondacks, officially kicked off on Friday, May 10. Paddlers gathered to share their love for the water with a paddling mixer hosted at Sunset Bistro in Saranac Lake. The energy carried through to Saturday's highlight event, the 2024 'Round the Mountain Canoe and Kayak Race, hosted by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT).

Lake Placid, N. Y. / Tampa, Fla. (May 22, 2024) – IRONMAN and the Village of Lake Placid, the Town of North Elba and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) have agreed to a three-year partnership renewal to keep the iconic and longstanding Athletic Brewing IRONMAN® Lake Placid triathlon in the Adirondacks through 2027. The agreement will benefit communities, event participants, businesses, and nonprofits in the region.

Wilmington, NY (May 14, 2024) - The Whiteface Region of Upstate New York is gearing up to host a number of race events. The Whiteface Mountain Uphill Bike and Foot races, the Wilmington Whiteface Mountain Bike Race, and the Wilmington Whiteface Whiskey Run all take place during the month of June.

The class of 2024 is comprised of jockey Joel Rosario and racehorses Gun Runner (KY) and Justify (KY) in the contemporary category; jockey Abe Hawkins and racehorses Aristides (KY) and Lecomte (KY) have been selected by the Pre-1900 Historic Review Committee; and Harry F. Guggenheim, Clement L. Hirsch, and Joe Hirsch were chosen by the Pillars of the Turf Committee. Rosario, Gun Runner, and Justify were all elected in their first year of eligibility.

National Museum of Racing and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is partnering with seven Saratoga County farms for exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. The Museum’s farm tour series kicks off Saturday, April 27, at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds. There will be a total of eight tours — including a special visit to Old Tavern Farm during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival — with the series concluding in October.
