Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that major construction has begun on a $38.1 million project to transform the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport into a world-class travel hub and a welcoming gateway for the entire Finger Lakes Region. The modernization project, which was awarded $18 million from the Governor’s $230 million Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition and $16.8 million in federal funds, will enhance the passenger experience by reimagining the main terminal area to create a more efficient, coordinated facility that helps get travelers where they need to faster and with fewer hassles.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced progress toward enhancing Buffalo Harbor State Park with work underway on $47.5 million in new upgrades to the park. The project includes a new spray ground, signature art sculpture and fountain, café/retail space and park office and will help provide Buffalo residents and Western New Yorkers with more options to safely cool off and escape the heat in a warming climate.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the fireworks display at Jones Beach State Park will again take place on Independence Day, July 4, illuminating the sky at Long Island's popular oceanfront park. The Jovia Financial Credit Union Fireworks Spectacular at Jones Beach is a 25-minute celebration in colors that will dazzle and delight all ages.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that June 29-30 is a free fishing weekend in New York State. During free fishing days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York’s waters.

“There’s no better time for aspiring anglers to try freshwater fishing than a free fishing weekend,” Governor Hochul said. “New York is home to numerous freshwater lakes, ponds, streams and rivers, allowing for memorable fishing experiences for anglers new and novice, as well as friends and family.”…
