Eastman Museum LogoSeating capacity now available for up to 146 guests at each screening 

Rochester, N.Y., May 28,2021—The Dryden Theatre at George Eastman Museum announced its new June film line up, including the series A Preservation Legacy: Ed Stratmann; Noir ’46; Judy, Judy, Judy (Garland); and Cary, Cary, Cary (Grant), as well as the Rochester premieres of Christian Petzold’s Undine and Jia Zhangke’s personal documentary Swimming Out Till the Sea Turns Blue. This news comes on the heels of the New York State Department of Health’s change in occupancy rules, allowing for the Dryden to seat up to 146 guests per screening.

LT-5 FlagsHistoric Tug Open for Tours June 5 and 6

Oswego, N.Y.  – The H. Lee White Maritime Museum will unite D-Day and World War II veterans with the museum’s U.S. Army Transport (USAT), LT-5, the last functional U.S. Army vessel that participated in the Normandy landings, at a commemorative event Sunday, June 6, the 77th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

The tug is owned by the Port of Oswego Authority and maintained by the museum. The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is located at 1 W. First St., Oswego, at the West First Street Pier overlooking Oswego Harbor.

Safe Haven ExhibitOswego, N.Y.  – Kevin Hill, president of the Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum board of directors, announced today that the newly-renovated museum will open to visitors Memorial Day, May 31. The museum will be open for the 2021 season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week, until Labor Day.  

Located at 2 E. Seventh St., Oswego, the Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum is dedicated to the stories of the 982 World War II European refugees who were allowed into the United States as “guests” of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The refugees lived at Fort Ontario from August 1944 to February 1946.

Jones Beach Limited to Air Show Ticket Holders Only for Friday, Saturday and Sunday

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) will open 22 beaches, pools and spraygrounds across the state for swimming on Memorial Day weekend. State Park beaches, campgrounds and picnic areas will return to normal operating capacity this summer. Park visitors are reminded to practice social distancing, respect the rules, and do their part to keep parks and beaches open and safe for everyone.

Saratoga Springs, NY (May 27, 2021) – Saratoga Performing Arts Center announces that The Philadelphia Orchestra will return to its summer home in Saratoga Springs for its residency on August 11-14, 2021, marking the company’s first live performances at SPAC since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Led by charismatic Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin for all four programs, the residency will also feature a finale performance with violinist Joshua Bell. Also highlighting the engagement and as part of SPAC’s commitment to presenting works that represent a more diverse group of voices are seven SPAC premieres, including works by Philadelphia Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Gabriela Lena FrankValerie ColemanFlorence Price, and Louise Farrenc.

Inspired by a few particular mouth-watering burgers they had enjoyed, the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau team wondered if others felt the same way they did about this American classic. So they asked. And folks responded. It seems, everyone loves a great burger. After 2,637 individual votes (people could only vote once per device), the CVB learned there are over 65 different restaurants throughout the county (we’re talking small local businesses, not fast food franchises) that feature a burger someone loves.
