Theater Breaking Through Barriers Corp

Theater Breaking Through Barriers aims to change the image of people with disabilities from one of dependence to independence, to fight the stereotypes of the media and show how vibrant, fluid and exuberant our lives can be. We celebrated the 35th anniversary of our founding in May, 2014. For the first 28 years we were Theater By The Blind, but increasingly we have included artists with all disabilities in our work and so in 2008 changed to Theater Breaking Through Barriers, with the initials TBTB uniting the two names. The Times has called us "an extraordinary troupe". 54,000,000 Americans, nearly 20% of us, deal with disability. We want to show the world the reality of our rich, independent lives. We are the only Off-Broadway theater working to achieve this goal.
