Trout Stocking Events Planned across Long Island, Encouraging Families to “Get Offline, Get Outside”

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) today announced the annual Spring Family Fishing Festival on Saturday, April 5, at Belmont Lake State Park.

New Yorkers Encouraged to Try Fishing at No Cost 

Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that June 29-30 is a free fishing weekend in New York State. During free fishing days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York’s waters.

“There’s no better time for aspiring anglers to try freshwater fishing than a free fishing weekend,” Governor Hochul said. “New York is home to numerous freshwater lakes, ponds, streams and rivers, allowing for memorable fishing experiences for anglers new and novice, as well as friends and family.”…

No Freshwater Fishing License Required to Fish on Designated Days

Governor Kathy Hochul announced today the six designated Free Fishing Days in New York will take place on: February 17 to 18 (Presidents’ Day Weekend), June 29 to 30, September 28 (National Hunting and Fishing Day) and November 11 (Veterans Day). During these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York’s waters.
