The Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness Area is a favorite destination for lovers of hiking and backpacking. Marked trails enable hikers to climb several peaks throughout the preserve. The stars of the wilderness area are two of New York State’s highest summits: Mt. Marcy at 5,344 feet and Algonquin Peak at 5,114 feet.
