The Town of New Paltz Historic Preservation Commission has designated the "Testimonial Gateway," located between Route 299 and Gatehouse Road, as a local historic landmark. Long a New Paltz icon, the Testimonial Gateway is comprised of 110 acres that served as the formal entrance to Mohonk Mountain House from 1908 to 1935.
