Gardens, greenhouses, woodland trails, artwork by Robert Winthrop Chanler and Everitt Shinn, a Gold Coast estate and more make Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park a New York treasure. This 409-acre site features an incredible landscape designed by the same firm responsible for creating Central Park: the Olmsted Brothers. Explore over 20 gardens, stroll five miles of woodland trails, delight in the warmth of the two greenhouses, tour a 65-room Tudor Revival mansion, and enjoy our year-round programming. Once the home of William Robertson and Mai Coe from 1913 until 1955, the Planting Fields site was developed into an arboretum with 160 acres of gardens and plants. Many trees and shrubs hail from Europe and Asia, and there are more than 600 types of rhododendrons and azaleas. Planting Fields is the perfect destination for seasonal blooms and taking a stroll through time and our shared history. Start your next visit at the Visitor Center and don’t miss our upcoming events!
